Joining the Tri-Kitty Club: Surgery Day
The day we have been preparing our hearts for has finally arrived. This morning, we dropped Buster off at our regular vet for his amputation surgery.
Walking away from him was incredibly heavy, but we know this is the exact moment his path turns toward healing and are so grateful the doctor and staff took extra time with us to answer last minute questions and reassure us in our decision for Buster’s future. Today, Buster is disengaging from a limb that betrayed his health with cancer and launching his new life as a member of the Tri-Kitty Club!
The Medical Map Today: The oncology and surgery teams are focusing entirely on removing the primary threat today. Once this surgery is complete, he will be ready to begin the long-term immunotherapy protocol, and his first dose is scheduled for Monday! We expect to receive the final invoices following each procedure, and will upload them to our Transparency Page once they’re in hand.
Ground Control, Standing By: Right now, Buster is dreaming of treats and sunbeams under the care of his amazing veteranary team. We are back at home preparing his recovery room with non-slip blankets, low-profile litter box, and easy access food and water so that his recovery is as low-risk and cozy as possible.
If you want to send him a little starlight while he’s in the recovery room, you can compose a message on our Contact page and join his Galaxy of Givers on our Donation page. Every $5 twinkle directly funds his post-op comfort and upcoming immunotherapy.
Thank you for holding him, and us, in your hearts, today especially! We will post an update here as soon as the vet calls us with the all-clear.
With purrs and starlight,
Erin, Jacob, Buster, Binx, Melody Malone, and Julius
